Grand Central Terminal Clock
Grand Central Terminal Clock
While entering the beautiful Grand Central Station, it is inevitable your eyes are almost immediately drawn to the massive clock located in the center. Serving as postcards, background to pictures and iconic movie scenes, the four sided opal clock is worth an estimated 10 million dollars.
Created by the Seth Thomas Clock company, the clock was completed in 1913 to honor the opening of the Grand Central Terminal, as well as being completed on the 100th anniversary of the company. Behind the opal faces are warm lights which illuminate its numbers, sitting on its top, looking closely we can see a compass with the north direction.
The iconic clock has made appearance in many movie scenes, as a representation of New York, from “The Madagascar” movie to “Friends With Benefits” and even “Gossip Girl”
