Visiting Grand Central

New York City is the city known for sightseeing. When you visit New York, the most popular place tourists go is Times Square/Grand Central 42nd street. With that being said, when I visited Grand Central, you could only imagine how packed it was. You can visit Grand Central any day or time of the and it will always be crowded. To begin with, before Grand Central Central was a station, it was a Grand Central Depot. The Grand Central Depot. was a number of railroad lines entering Manhattan. It was built by Cornelius Vanderbilt and he bought up stock in railroads around the city combining them into a transportation network. If you visit Grand Central and look around at the street signs, you see that one of them are named after Vanderbilt. In addition, while being in the center of Grand Central and looking up, you see these pictures of what may look like the zodiac signs or at least that’s what I thought it was and I was right in some cases. While looking at the ceiling, you see these glowing lights which represent stars and there are 2,500 stars in total. There’s also a discovery of a smokey dark rectangle located in the corner of the ceiling to remind people of how dirty Grand Central once was and how it can get. The ceiling got dirty from when cigarette smoking was allowed in Grand Central and since there was no escape for the smoke, it stuck to the ceiling and now 20 years later after cleaning it, you can still see a dark rectangular dirt spot as a reminder. In conclusion, Grand Central is one of the most popular and historical places to go and that’s just my opinion. It has so much history and creative background that I would suggest anybody to take thirty minutes out their time to visit the beautiful and historical Grand Central.
